Mid-Year Reset: Hit Pause & Realign

Reflection / 6 July 2025 / by Mandlenkosi Vana

So we’re halfway through the year already—shocking, right? If it feels like things have been moving insanely fast, you’re not alone. Now’s the perfect time to take a breather, check in with yourself, and do a bit of a life reset. This guide is all about helping you slow down, reflect, and get intentional about how you want the rest of your year to look.

Look Back Before You Move Forward

Before jumping into what’s next, it helps to pause and take stock of what’s happened so far this year.

Ask yourself:

  • What moments am I super proud of?
  • What challenges actually taught me something valuable?
  • Are my goals still matching up with what I care about?
  • Is there anything in my life that needs a little extra love right now?

Grab a journal, make a voice note, doodle on a serviette—whatever works for you. Just create space to sit with your thoughts.

Steps to Reboot with Intention

Alright, reflection done? Let’s get into the good stuff: action. Here are some down-to-earth ways to recalibrate:

1. Take Inventory

Figure out where things feel aligned and where they’re a bit…off. Are you thriving physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually? Or is something lagging?

2. Set Goals that Actually Matter

Forget goals that sound good but don’t light you up. Set ones that feel meaningful now—not six months ago. Keep them realistic and break them down into small, doable steps.

3. Clear the Clutter

Seriously—start with that one drawer. Tidying up your space can do wonders for your mind. Let go of stuff (and maybe habits) that aren’t serving you.

4. Craft a Daily Flow

A routine doesn’t have to be rigid. Think of it more as a rhythm. Build in time for rest, connection, and the things that fill your cup.

5. Be Where Your Feet Are

Practice being present. Whether it’s a cup of tea or a sunset, soak in the little things. Try deep breathing or just slowing down when you walk.

6. Find Your People

You don’t have to do this alone. Chat with people who share your values, join a group, or reach out to someone you trust. Having community makes the journey richer.

7. Stay Adaptable

Plans change. You grow. That’s all okay. Stay flexible and roll with what life throws your way. Resets are about recalibrating—not rigid control.

Ready to Reset?

Remember that this isn’t a race—it’s a slow, intentional shift. Celebrate the tiny wins, be kind to yourself, and let this be your nudge to realign your life with what truly matters. Let’s do this together.

Always on point, to take inventory of yourself mid-year , to ensure that you use lessons learned and experiences gained, to finish the year a lot more stronger and purposeful

Thank you, Trevor! This is such an important step we often forget in the year. I’ve made it a point to set a reminder in my calendar for me to remember to be intentional about taking stock and rebalancing. My goal is to bring the intervals down to maybe quarterly or even monthly for the more tactical goals that add up to the overall bigger annual goals.
